Week 40

Your little one has decided to go all the way! Keep in mind, technically you are not due for another 2 weeks and only 5% of babies are actually born on their due dates! One thing is certain however, your time is near! When you visit the doctor this week, he or she will be able to tell you if your cervix is thinning and opening to prepare for childbirth. If it has not yet began this process, your practitioner may begin to think about inducing labor.

In the days ahead

Depending on whether you have a vaginal birth or a c-section, you will spend anywhere from 1-5 days at the hospital before you can bring your little one home . Although this is a super exciting time for you and your partner, it is important that you use your time at the hospital to rest and recover, childbirth can be strenuous on your body and you need to heal. Don't forget! When the big day finally does arrive, make sure to grab your bags and the baby's car seat. The hospital will not allow you to take the baby home without a properly installed car seat.
