Week 36

Baby

This week, baby is an amazing 19 inches long and around 6 pounds. Her size will continue to increase at around 1 ounce per day! If she hasn't already dropped into the birth canal, she will very soon! Once this happens, you will notice that you are carrying her lower, and some women say that they feel an increase in pressure in the lower abdomen area. Although many babies are head down by this week, about 4% of babies will be breech. However, there is no need for panic. There are many things that can be done to try and turn the baby around, some of which are exercises you can learn from your doctor. Have you toured the hospital yet? What are you waiting for?

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. The information listed on this site is designed to give you a general idea of your baby’s current development.

Mommy

If the baby has dropped, your appetite may return because the baby is no longer putting as much pressure on your stomach and intestines, and if you've been experiencing heartburn, the baby's descent may relieve that somewhat. If you haven't already done your baby proofing, now is the time to start! Once baby arrives, you will have a lot less time to do these things.
