Week 31

Baby

Baby is growing closer to her birth weight each day, this week sizing up at 4 pounds and over 17 inches long. From here on out, your little bundle of joy will be gaining about 1/2 pound each week. It won't be hard to do as she continues to put on more and more layers of baby fat with each passing week. Her tiny little head may already be covered in gorgeous curly locks, even though it is still soft because the skull bones have not yet fused together. Strange as this may sound, it will actually allow her (and mom) a smoother ride into the world, as the softer skull will help her ease through the birth canal. Some children's soft spot will not fully disappear until they are up to 1 year old!

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. The information listed on this site is designed to give you a general idea of your baby’s current development.

Mommy

Your breasts may start to leak colostrum, which is a sign that they are busy preparing the milk for baby's arrival. Some women will experience this as early as now, and some will not experience it until labor, or maybe not at all! Colostrum can be clear or slightly tinged with yellow or even orange depending on a number of factors. You can buy nursing pad inserts for your bra to avoid staining your clothes and bras. Eating smaller, more frequent meals with help with heartburn, and a good posture with no slouching is beneficial to the back pain you are dealing with. Remember, stay off your feet and keep them elevated whenever you can. And finally ...RELAX, you deserve it!
