Week 28

Baby

Your son or daughter now weighs over 2 pounds and is almost 15 inches long. From the comforts of his liquid home, baby is now able to smell the same things you smell outside the womb. The developing eyes can now respond to light and hence are starting to blink. Her bone marrow is now like a little production line for red blood cells. The folds and grooves of her brain are constantly expanding, and she is developing tons and tons of neurons at the same time. Also, she is still packing on the body fat in preparation for the big day coming soon!

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. The information listed on this site is designed to give you a general idea of your baby’s current development.

Mommy

At this point, you will likely begin to visit your doctor bi-weekly and she will soon tell you if your baby is head down for delivery or if he/she is still feet first. If the baby is not turned yet, there is no need to fret, you still have over 2 months for him to spin around. Once he does, you will know from the increase in pressure on your cervix. Your fatigue and nausea will soon return if it hasn't already. And as if you aren't tired enough already, this is prime time to start getting your home together for your new arrival. It's time you kick it in gear with baby-proofing the house, buy a car seat, start putting together your nursery, and picking out a name for junior, if you haven't already.
