Week 19

Baby

This week your baby weighs between 8 and 9 ounces and is approximately 6 inches long! Her body is beginning to store iron for the production of red blood cells. She is also producing Vernix , to protect her skin from dehydration caused by the fluid environment she lives in. When she sleeps, she may even experience REM sleep. If you are having a girl her uterus is visible and she has produced 6 million eggs in her ovaries. If your little one is a boy, his prostate gland is starting to develop and the testes are noticeable.

Mommy

Increased estrogen amounts in your body may cause you to have red palms. You should try lotions or oils to help if you are experiencing any dry, itchy, or even flaky skin. Also, a healthy diet including lots of water will help with any skin problems you may be having. Don't worry, after birth, your skin will return back to it's normal state. If you experience some achiness in your lower abdomen or even a quick sharp pain, it is likely that of round ligament pain. Round ligament pain occurs from the stretching of ligaments and muscles that support your constant growing uterus. This is a very common occurrence at 19 weeks of pregnancy and should not be cause for alarm unless the pain becomes persistent.
