Week 11

Baby

At approximately 1 ¼ inches, her fingers and toes are fully visible. Her wrists ankles have also formed. Small buds that will later become her teeth are filling in under her gums. Her head accounts for almost 50% of her entire body length and bones are beginning to harden.

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. The information listed on this site is designed to give you a general idea of your baby’s current development.

Mommy

Your uterus has now grown to the size of an orange, although many people still cannot tell you are pregnant. If you are suffering from morning sickness, hang in there! Most women pass the morning sickness at the start of the 2nd trimester. If you haven’t gained much weight due to your sickness, you will soon be gaining about a pound a week! Remember to skip the Sushi next time you are out to eat. Certain types of seafood can pose a threat to baby due to the high levels of methylmercury, which could be harmful to baby’s brain. The FDA recommends that pregnant women can safely consume up to 12 ounces a week of many cooked commercial caught fish. However, some sources recommend only 6 ounces of tuna, or cutting the tuna completely from your diet during pregnancy, because tuna tends to carry higher levels of these pollutants.
